Workplace air pollution may seriously affect employee health. In our days the term "sick building syndrome" is used to describe an adverse situation during which a significant number of tenants present ill health problems. In most of these cases, sick buildings are buildings that are not occupied for the intended use.
Hence, physical, chemical and biological agents concentration measurements are required in order to determine the exposure risk in these workplace environments. The results must be compared with the occupational exposure limits, as set by the Cyprus Legislation or the international bibliography.
Workplace air quality measurements according to the Cyprus Legislation requirements include:
- Thermal Comfort Measurements
- Lighting Measurements
- Air Draft Measurements
- Noise Measurements
- Vibration Measurements
- Flammable Agents and Explosive Atmosphere Measurements
- Ergonomic Measurements
- Chemical Agents Concentration Measurements (asbestos, inorganic compounds, VOC's, carbon dioxide, heavy metals etc.)
